It’s monthly sex toy review time again; wow, I’m a lucky man.  California Exotics’ latest line of soft bdsm gear, called “Playful in Pearls”, combines lace and faux pearls into cuffs, blindfolds, even whips.  This month, for our review they’ve provided the “Collar & Cuffs” set, which should really be called “Collar & Cuff”, because the set includes a lace collar with only one lace cuff attached.  “Why only one cuff…?”, was my immediate reaction, “…what kind of bondage is that?”.  Very subdued.  Good for very gently introducing sexy bondage play to the bedroom, demure with a little restraint.  Seemed geared toward a very young, probably first-time audience.  Of course, all reservations aside, we now had “work” to do. 

So we got naked, Bianca put on the collar, pearl strand in front, I attached her wrist cuff, and she laid back on the bed, with her one arm restrained from her collar by the pearl strand, not quite being able to stretch her arm out fully, and we had a little fun with that.  But we already enjoy much more than having only one arm restrained, and Bianca doesn’t really like having anything around her neck anyway, so soon, we took off the collar and cuff, and I tied her spread-eagle, with the leather cuffs and rope we keep under the bed.  Mmmm, much better.  Let the teasing begin.

Then inspiration struck – I would hold the collar in one hand, and the cuff in the other, and pull the pearl strand slowly through Bianca’s pussy for an exciting new thrill…!   But alas the Velcro closures of the collar had hooked onto the lace of the cuff, and in trying to separate the two pieces, the pearl strand broke, and tiny plastic beads started falling off.  I managed to grab the end of the strand and contained most of them, although there were lots of tiny balls on the bed, the floor, and on Bianca, which I now had to collect.  So much for that exciting new tease!

The beads are strung on a very thin wire that’s obviously not very well attached to the O-rings on the lace parts.  And the Velcro closures are too large, which makes them more likely to get caught on the lace, and harder to separate; pulling on the existing closures was just too much force for the strand.  This month’s sex toy didn’t make it through even one sexcapade.  The product needs stronger wire and attachment, smaller Velcro tabs…and a second cuff.  Besides that, I think larger beads (maybe twice the size) would be better.

Now all that being said, if the lace-and-pearls appearance of these products tickles your fancy, and you understand that they might not last the night, then go ahead and enjoy these cute, soft bondage toys.  Maybe adding wrist and ankle cuffs to your next lingerie order, to make a show-stopping, sexy bondage outfit.  We  recommend appearing in the doorway cuffed and wearing hot lingerie . . . a wild evening will be assured.
